What will you replace when you rebuild my unit?

This is specialty, custom rebuilding.  We know our business, and know what works.  We will rebuild to your specification.  While we will give our recommendations, we will custom-tailor the new part content at your direction.  Typically, in a basic rebuild, all wear parts (bearings, bushings, brushes, etc.) will be replaced with new; armatures and rotors will be tested and reworked, with the possible replacement of commutators and shafts; in alternators diodes and regulators are typically replaced with new.  We can source at your option additional components, but in most cases, original parts can be reclaimed or reworked just fine.  Often times, in this specialty market, replacement parts are simply not available, or of substandard quality.  In any case, we will clearly lay out your options and the associated costs.

Will I get my specific unit back?

Absolutely.  That’s why we’re here.  Of course, in most cases certain component parts will be replaced.  For example, if your starter’s drive-end housing with a particular OEM number has a broken ear, we will discuss with you replacing the housing and the possibility of the replacement having a different OEM.

How much will it cost?

Most jobs can be completed in the $100 - $250 range.  Jobs involving extensive research and sourcing of parts will run higher.  We’ll be able to give a specific quote upon inspection of your unit.

Why do I have to pay $25.00 up front?

Actually this is a bargain.  Almost all of this amount is return freight and insurance.  Thrown in is our expert inspection, diagnosis and consultation with you.  At this point should you decline further work that’s fine, but keep in mind we’ve already invested our time and our expertise.  Factoring in the time, at this point we’re losing money.

How long will it take?

Most jobs can be completed in just a couple of days; in other cases if parts need to come from Europe, it could take weeks.  Again, we’ll be able to give you a good idea upon inspection of your unit.

Can I expect you to warranty your work?

You bet.  We offer a limited warranty on all we do for one year.
